Energy & MobilityDeveloped & Deployed
Pluginfinite
A connected mobile experience that helps EV drivers find charging stations, book and pay, and monitor charging sessions remotely.
01The Project
A new EV charging app, designed from scratch, from finding a station to booking, payment and live charging.
I owned the UX/UI design end to end, then handed it to the development team, who built and deployed it.
02The Problem
Stakeholders identified two challenges in the EV charging experience.
Stakeholder-identified problems
Stakeholders identified the inconvenience associated with waiting during the EV charging process.
Drivers needed better visibility into charging progress and when a charging session was complete.
The intended experience
find, book and pay before arriving
follow the session remotely and get notified when it’s complete
Design challenge“How might we create a connected charging experience that helps drivers plan their visit and stay informed throughout the charging session?”
03Requirements & UX Approach
The requirements and the original problem statements came from stakeholders. My role was to turn them into a journey, flows and a complete interface the development team could build.
Understanding what the product needed to do.
From stakeholdersFraming waiting and completion uncertainty as design problems.
Mapping the driver’s journey from discovery to completion.
Defining the task flows for each stage.
Exploring layouts and structure at low fidelity.
Designing every mobile screen and interaction.
Preparing the design for implementation.
04End-to-End Journey
Stage 01 / 09
Explore a map and search for EV charging stations.
05Station Discovery
Drivers find a station on the map or by search, check availability, then open its details.
06Booking
Drivers reserve a charger through Pluginfinite before they arrive, so the stop is planned in advance. Booking and payment both happen in the app: the reservation is confirmed up front, and the charging amount is paid after the session.
01Select a station
Find a station on the map and open it to see its chargers.
02View available chargers
Each charger shows its reservation time and price; unavailable ones can’t be reserved.
03Review and reserve
A review sheet confirms the charger, time and amount before reserving.
Payment for the charging itself comes after the session, in the journey’s Pay stage.
UX emphasis
07Connected Charging
Pluginfinite is connected with participating EV charging stations. The app supports the driver’s journey from booking and payment through to the physical charging session.
After arriving, the driver parks and charges the vehicle, with the app carrying the context of their booking into the visit.
Steps as shown in the app screens. Hardware and charger communication details are not shown.
08Live Charging Monitoring
By bringing charging information into the mobile experience, drivers can check their session remotely instead of relying solely on the physical charging station. The app shows battery percentage, charging duration, charging cost and charging completion status.
Displays current charging progress.
Shows how long the session has been running.
Displays the cost associated with the charging session.
Indicates whether charging is ongoing or completed.
Illustrative breakdown with sample values, not real product data.
09Notifications
Pluginfinite includes charging-related notifications and can notify drivers when charging is complete. Notifications complement the in-app charging view by providing updates without requiring drivers to continually check the application.
10Key UX Decisions
Make station discovery a natural starting point for the EV driver’s journey.
Keep reservation and payment interactions within the same product experience.
Present battery percentage, time, cost and charging status in a comprehensible interface.
Support awareness of charging completion without requiring continuous manual checking.
11Process & Artefacts
The user flow and wireframes below are recreated for this case study from the final design; the original files aren’t published. The high-fidelity screens are the actual Pluginfinite UI.
AUser Flow
The main path from the map to a confirmed payment, with its side paths.
BWireframes
Low-fidelity layouts of the key screens.
CHigh-Fidelity UI
The final Pluginfinite mobile screens.
12My Contribution
I owned the complete UX/UI design of Pluginfinite, from interpreting the stakeholder requirements to handing the design over to development.

13Delivery & Outcome
Developed and deployed
After completing the end-to-end UX/UI design, I handed the work over to the development team for implementation. The application was subsequently developed and deployed, while further design involvement continued under another team member.
The delivered design brought together station discovery, booking, payment, charging monitoring and notifications into one connected mobile journey.
